International Shoppers

Isn’t it a pain, when after researching the net and finding the exact product you want to buy,  you find out it’s only available in the U.S.?

I’m in Canada, and this makes me absolutely crazy!  But there is hope for all us international shoppers.   I found a company in the U.S. called shipito.com.

This is the way it works.  You buy from amazon.com, or any other U.S. retailer, and have it delivered to shipito.  They in turn have it shipped to you anywhere in the world.

They charge a small fee on top of the shipping charges, and if you are a regular shopper, you can have them amalgamate parcels for you to cut down on delivery costs.  Of course, you have to deal with brokerage, customs fees and taxes just like you would if your retailer of choice shipped to you directly, but at least you can now get what you want, no matter where you live.

Go check them out for yourself!

Oh, and a note to Canadian buyers.  If you use this service, or even if you are having something shipped from the States from elsewhere, always use USPS when the option is given.  This is why shipito is my U.S. address service of choice.  They will mail your parcel via USPS and it will be handed off to Canada Post and arrive in your mail.  The advantage of using the mail instead of a courier?  It is much cheaper in the long run!  Couriers, like UPS, Fedex and Purolator charge obnoxious brokerage fees that can be three of four times the amount that USPS/CP will charge you.  The last time I checked, the brokerage fees when having something mailed was a flat rate of $5.  That may have changed, but it’s still a lot cheaper than what the couriers charge you.

Again, if you are an international shopper, and you’re tired of finding products that you can’t have because you aren’t in the U.S., try out shipito.com!
